Mary’s classes make all yogis feel welcome, regardless of ability or experience. Each of her classes strikes a balance of being welcoming and accessible to beginners as well as challenging for the more advanced practitioners. Mary provides students with clear instruction, options and active encouragement cues. She believes everyone has the ability to practice yoga and meditation.
Mary first started practicing yoga for a challenging workout. It was not until she added Yin Yoga into her practice that she understood the need for balance. The balance and release Yin provided to her body actually added strength to her yang yoga practice as well as to her other athletic endeavors like marathon and Ironman training. She fundamentally believes that once you experience it in your body you will feel the strength that Yin Yoga makes space for. When she’s not hanging around a yoga studio, she can be found at the theater, running, eating cupcakes and snuggling with her cat.
As an athlete herself, she knows that with great strength come some unexpected limitations. With a well thought out Yin Yoga practice some of those limitations and tight places can begin to open up and will start to work for you again.
